Sunburn and skin cancer risks

Repeated sunburn increases your risk of melanoma especially as a child.

All types of sunburn, whether serious or mild, can cause permanent and irreversible skin damage. Further sunburn only increases your risk of skin cancer.

Sun Protection

  • Avoid sunlight during the middle of the day
  • Wear a hat, sunglasses and t-shirts
  • Apply sunscreens regularly – SPF15 or higher regularly
  • Sunsuits and tents for children
