Warts

wart on palm of handWarts are a very common complaint, affecting many adults.

Warts are skin lesions that can have a rough or bumpy texture and slightly raised appearance, so they’re not pleasant to look at, which is why many patients seek treatment for them. They are caused by a viral infection known as human papillomavirus, or HPV– and are highly contagious, so they can spread and multiply if they are not effectively treated.

Warts are very common and normally occur on the fingers and hands as well as the feet (a wart on the sole of the foot is called a verruca).

Normal warts can eventually clear up but it can take up to 2-3 years for this to happen, so many patients prefer to get rid of them sooner.

Warts can be very difficult to treat as they are resistant to creams from the chemist, even ‘extra strength’ variants.

‘See and Treat’ Skin Tag Removal

Our ‘See and Treat’ service means that you can now have your wart removed at the same appointment as your consultation, saving you having to come back. The consultation and treatment together can usually be completed in less than an hour for the majority of patients.

Do I need It?

Our doctors only perform procedures which are in the best interest of the patient and will give the best advice on whether a procedure is likely to be a benefit or not.  If our doctors don’t believe wart treatment is appropriate or suitable, they will advise you and explain why.  Equally as a patient, you’re under no obligation to go ahead, so if you’re unsure at all, then simply don’t proceed until you’re completely happy to go ahead.

How is Wart Removal Done?

Wart removal is surprisingly simple, painless and quick AND effective with our doctor’s methods.

Simple warts are frozen off with 2-3 treatments to ensure complete removal of the wart.

Large and very resistant warts can be treated either using laser or skin surgery.

What does Wart Removal Cost?

Prices depend on the type of removal technique:

  • Wart removal by freezing – from £310 – ideal for small/simple warts
  • Laser wart removal – from £345 – suitable for resistant warts
  • Anal/genital wart removal – from £500
  • A consultation with one of our doctors costs £75. Prices for treatments carried out in the same appointment as the consultation will include the consultation fee (note: same day procedures are only undertaken where the procedure is deemed appropriate to do so AND the patient understands the full extent of the costs, risks and potential side effects and is consenting to proceed on that knowledge).
